Easy Sesame Chicken
Tender chicken thighs coated in a sweet, savory, tangy sesame sauce, served over jasmine rice.
Ingredients
Sauce
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- ½ tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Chicken and serving
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- Salt and black pepper
- 4 cups cooked jasmine rice
- 2 green onions, sliced
Instructions
- Stir together the soy sauce, water, sesame oil, brown sugar, rice vinegar, ginger, garlic, cornstarch, and sesame seeds. Set the sauce aside.
- Whisk the egg with the cornstarch, a pinch of salt, and pepper. Cut the chicken into roughly 1-inch pieces and toss them in the coating.
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat until very hot. Add the chicken in a single layer and cook with minimal stirring until browned and cooked through on both sides.
- Pour in the sauce and gently toss until it simmers and thickens around the chicken.
- Serve over jasmine rice with sliced green onions.
