A straightforward churned vanilla ice cream with a rich milk-and-cream base.
Ingredients
- 1½ cups whole milk
- 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- Pinch of kosher salt
- 3 cups heavy cream
- 1½ tablespoons pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- Whisk the milk, sugar, and salt in a medium bowl until the sugar dissolves. Stir in the cream and vanilla.
- Cover and refrigerate the base for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
- Churn in the ice-cream maker until thickened and creamy.
- Serve soft, or transfer to an airtight container and freeze for about 2 hours for a firmer texture. Let it sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes before serving.
Notes
- The booklet suggests adding chopped candy or sprinkles near the end of churning.
