Bakery-Style Chocolate-Chip Cookies

Chocolate-chip cookies with crisp edges and chewy centers.

Ingredients

  • 168 g unsalted butter, softened
  • 266 g light brown sugar
  • 78 g light corn syrup
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¾ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 large egg
  • 270 g all-purpose flour
  • 340 g semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Heat the oven to 375°F. Line baking sheets with parchment.
  2. Beat butter, sugar, and syrup until fluffy. Mix in vanilla, baking powder, salt, baking soda, and egg. Stir in flour, then chocolate.
  3. Scoop rounded tablespoon portions, leaving 2 inches between them.
  4. Bake 10–12 minutes per batch, until the edges brown lightly but centers remain soft. Leave on the sheet 5 minutes, then move to a rack.
