French Dip
Slow-cooked beef piled onto toasted rolls with cheese and au jus.
Ingredients
- 3–4 lb chuck or rump roast
- Onion
- Garlic
- 3 cups beef broth
- Worcestershire sauce
- Thyme
- Bay leaf
- French rolls
- Provolone or Swiss cheese
Instructions
- Sear the beef.
- Add the beef, onion, garlic, broth, Worcestershire, thyme, and bay leaf to a slow cooker.
- Cook for 6–8 hours on low or 4–5 hours on high.
- Shred the beef and strain the cooking liquid for au jus.
- Toast the rolls, then fill them with beef and provolone or Swiss.
- Serve with the au jus for dipping.
Notes

- Oven option: cook at 325°F for about 1½–2 hours.
- Quantities beyond the roast and broth were not recoverable.
