Homemade Pizza Dough

An everyday yeast dough for homemade pizza. Allow 1–2 hours for rising in addition to prep and baking. This entry makes dough; choose toppings separately.

Ingredients

  • 454 g (2 cups) lukewarm water
  • 9 g (1 tablespoon) instant or active dry yeast
  • 12 g (1 tablespoon) sugar
  • 18 g (1 tablespoon) table salt
  • 25 g (2 tablespoons) olive oil
  • 720 g (6 cups) all-purpose flour
  • Pizza toppings of your choice, for baking

Instructions

  1. Combine water, yeast, sugar, salt, and oil. Work in flour, then knead 7–10 minutes until elastic, adjusting with a little water if dry.
  2. Cover in a lightly oiled bowl and let rise 1–2 hours, until puffy.
  3. Heat the oven to 450°F. Divide into four pieces; stretch each into a 12-inch round on a lightly greased pizza pan. If the dough springs back, let it relax before continuing.
  4. Add your chosen toppings. Bake 15–20 minutes, until the crust is browned and cooked underneath.
